This time of the year, during the scorching heat, we have some reccomendations of Apparel and Accessories that you need to have before you step out for a ride.

Weather being a very unpredictable forecast, during the summer, one never knows when it can end up raining even on a hot sunny day, so it is important to be prepared for any challenge in respect to the weather.

Depending upon where you are located during the summer, the list below is a must have before you go for a ride.

If you are in an urban city near sea level or in a hilly region where the mornings are cold, and can get quite hot during the afternoon or in a desert region where the mornings are hot and the evening and above can get quite cold, check out the guide below.

Type of Bike:

  1. Layer Up

Though this sounds very inconvenient and uncomfortable, it is the most practical choice. Layering up with the right apparel and gear will not make you drain out your energy by drenching in sweat

It's important to have the base layer for cycling. This material has to be synthetic and lightweight, that will help absorb the sweat and also dry up fast.

    Jersey

On top of this synthetic material base layer, next comes a summer jersey that is also lightweight and helps the material is a sweat absorbent material that does not make the jersey wet and make it feel uncomfortable by sticking to the body.

    Cycling Gilet

The next layer is a compatible, suitable and lightweight cycling gilet, to give extra protection to the front and back core of the body. It’s sleeveless and it is meant to be put on top of the jersey top.

  2. Weatherproof Jackets

These jackets are ideal for summer riding since they are lightweight and can protect from slight showers. These jackets wont make you sweat despite the layers within, since these are also thin, lightweight and breathable. If there are higher chances of rain, it is preferable to use the waterproof jacket; unlike the weatherproof jacket, it is heavy and as the name suggests, won't let water penetrate through.

  3. Cycling Caps

Cycling Caps are not only meant to protect the head from heat but also, the extra coverage in the front, protects your eyes from the sharp sunlight. A thin material cap is essential, preferably with a mesh that makes it breathable and also with the mesh, there is some air flow inside, keeping the head cool.

  4. Mitts

The mitts which are fingerless are a choice during the summer not only because of their cushioning effect but also because they provide the grip required and also absorb the sweat preventing them from getting burnt.

  5. Socks

Socks that are synthetic in material can absorb sweat faster than any other socks. A pair of socks that also has a mesh material helps increase air flow inside. Wearing a pair of socks also prevents the feet from swelling and causing pain to the feet simultaneously

  6. Sunglasses

It’s not a surprise that summers come with harsh and sharp light rays from the sun that hurt the eye. A comfortable pair of sunglasses or shades that also prevent the dust on the road and air from flying into your eyes.

  7. Water Bottle

The first rule of summer is to stay hydrated. With the exertion of the body during short or long cycling trips it is essential to stay hydrated. Carry a water bottle and have regular water breaks between your ride so that you don't get dehydrated.

Happy Riding!
